BATTLEFIELD ORGANICS / CULTIVATION
It starts with
living soil.
Our proposed cultivation philosophy puts soil biology, dependable inputs and thoughtful stewardship at the foundation of the business.
Soil illustrationBENEATH THE SURFACE
A system worth
understanding.
Living soil is more than a phrase. It asks us to understand the relationships among materials, biology, water and the environment.
We’re researching soil-health principles, compost quality, earthworms and material variability to inform a proposed approach. The goal is a system that can be measured, reviewed and improved over time.
Final cultivation methods will be developed and validated with qualified management for the actual site, equipment and license conditions.
OUR PROPOSED PHILOSOPHY
Care, backed by
understanding.
Know the foundation.
Study the biological and physical characteristics of the proposed growing medium. Distinguish general soil research from evidence for a particular production system.
Understand what goes in.
Evaluate suppliers, material histories and relevant testing. Compost and other biological inputs can vary; the records should capture those differences.
Learn from the record.
Track approved changes and review observations consistently. Use actual results to refine the system rather than relying on a promise of identical outcomes.
A CLEARER CONVERSATION
Questions at
the roots.
What role could earthworms play?
Earthworms and vermicompost are part of our general soil research. Their suitability depends on the species, materials and production environment. A specific worm program has not been adopted for the proposed facility.
Does the name mean organic certification?
No. Battlefield Organics is a working brand. No project product or facility is represented as organically certified. Any future certification statement will identify the applicable product, framework and certifier.
Is the growing method already finalized?
No. Living soil is the proposed philosophy. Technical methods, equipment, site conditions and measurable quality criteria remain subject to qualified review and validation.
Where can I learn more about the research?
The journal explains the general principles and questions behind our approach, with links to relevant public resources. It will develop as the project produces verified evidence.
